In Circuit Court in Camden 26 year old Shunta Walker of Fordyce has been charged by deputy prosecutor R. Jeffrey Sawyer with possession of meth or cocaine and possession of a quantity of Xanox. The charges were filed against Walker by Camden police following a traffic stop on June 5, and a search of the vehicle.

Sawyer also filed charges against 42 year old Michael W. Lay of Camden. Sawyer filed charges of domestic assault in the 2nd degree and domestic assault in the 3rd degree. According to a police report filed in court, Lay became upset when his father wouldn't let him take his motor cycle for a ride. The younger Lay proceeded to beat his dad and head butt him. Lay later also beat his mother. Both were taken to the ER for treatment of their injuries.

Deputy prosecutor Phillip A. Stone filed charges in circuit court on July 31,  against 41 year old Sharon L. Pyle of Camden. Pyle is charged with possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, driving while license suspended and failure to wear seatbelt. The charges were filed against Pyle following a State Police sobriety check on June 2,  at Frenchport.

Stone also filed charges against 49 year old Anthon Lindsey of Camden. Lindsey was charged on June 23,  following a traffic stop in Camden with possession of meth or cocaine and possession of marijuana.

26 year old Bianca N. Key of Camden has been charged in Ouachita County Circuit Court with two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of terroristic threatening. On June 11th, Camden Police answered a disturbance call and officers were told by witnesses that Key drove up to the property and was told not to come onto the property. She proceeded to pick up a brick and came up the drive way and threatened to bash in the heads of those present. She was taken into custody and charges filed against her July 31, in circuit court by deputy prosecutor Phillip A. Stone.

The 239th traffic fatality of the year was recorded in Sebastian County on U.S

Highway 71 at Brooken Hill Drive in Ft. Smith.

According to a preliminary state police report..63 year old Janet Kessler died of

injuries suffered in a crash involving three vehicles. Kessler's 2014 Chevrolet

Cruze..eastbound on Brooken Hill Drive was hit broadside by a southbound

2006 Toyta Tacoma..the light changed and the driver of the Tacoma attempted

to stop..but not in time and struck Kessler's vechile on the drivers side..Kessler's

car then spun into a light pole and then collided with a a north bound 2015

Hyundai Sonota..who was stopped in the northbound turning lane of U.S. 71.

The drivers of the other vehicles not available in the report.

The injured were taken to a Ft. Smith hospital..where Kessler died of her

injuries. Weather conditions were clear..the roadway dry at the time of the

crash at 11:14 Thursday morning. Ft. Smith PD investigated.
