07/03/17  Students Registering For School Today Through Thursday

 

Fordyce High School will hold registration for students in grades 7 through 12 today through Thursday, from 8am till 3pm each day. Registration for 7 and 8 graders takes place today, freshmen and sophomores tomorrow and juniors and seniors on Thursday. Parents must come register their children and pick up schedules. All students are required to have a locker. Locker rental is $5.00. The Fordyce School District is supplying all school supplies but a backpack for the students this year. Registration at Bearden High School is today and Thursday for grades 9 through 12 grades. Registration forms must be completed before a schedule is received and a parent or guardian must complete the forms. Locker fee is $10.00 and must be paid before a locker can be assigned. Anyone who owes fines or lunch money from last year must pay the amount before they can register. Seventh and eighth grade parent-student orientation will be held at 6pm this evening in the high school commons. Counselor Rachel Graves will present information on smart core, preparing for high school, student expectations and other subjects. After the short orientation, registration paperwork will be passed out and after its completion and return,  schedules and locker assignments will be given out.






















The 239th traffic fatality of the year was recorded in Sebastian County on U.S


Highway 71 at Brooken Hill Drive in Ft. Smith.


According to a preliminary state police report..63 year old Janet Kessler died of


injuries suffered in a crash involving three vehicles. Kessler's 2014 Chevrolet


Cruze..eastbound on Brooken Hill Drive was hit broadside by a southbound


2006 Toyta Tacoma..the light changed and the driver of the Tacoma attempted


to stop..but not in time and struck Kessler's vechile on the drivers side..Kessler's


car then spun into a light pole and then collided with a a north bound 2015


Hyundai Sonota..who was stopped in the northbound turning lane of U.S. 71.


The drivers of the other vehicles not available in the report.


The injured were taken to a Ft. Smith hospital..where Kessler died of her


injuries. Weather conditions were clear..the roadway dry at the time of the


crash at 11:14 Thursday morning. Ft. Smith PD investigated.
