07/27/17  Murder Trial In Cleveland County

 

With the death penalty as a potential punishment in the capital murder trial of Brad Hunter Smith getting underway at the Cleveland County Courthouse in Rison, an expanded jury panel has been called in anticipation of a rigorous jury selection process that got underway on Monday. The 21 year old Smith, is charged with capital murder, kidnapping and abuse of a corpse in connection with the December 2015 death of Cherrish Faith Allbright.

The body of the pregnant 22 year old woman was found on the night of December 10,  2015 buried in a wooded area about a mile off Rodgers Road in northern Cleveland County. She was last seen at her grandmother's house on Rodgers Road West on December 3,  2015.

13th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney David Butler is prosecuting the case with the assistance of deputy prosecutor Tom Wynne of Fordyce. Circuit Judge David W. Talley is presiding over the trial.
