07/21/17  Dallas County Circuit Court

 

It was plea and arraignment day in Dallas County Circuit Court yesterday. Edward Craig of Fordyce who was charged in the stabbing of his brother Larry, had a charge of terroristic threatening nol prossed. He was found guilty on possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and sentenced to two years in the department of community corrections.

Corey Turner, charged with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia was given three years in the department of corrections on each charge. The court ordered him to serve 3 years..to run concurrently.

Margie Cooksey, charged with terroristic threatening had the charge amended by the prosecutor to 3rd degree assault. She was ordered to pay $500.00 and banned from Wal-Mart for a year.

Matthew Hines of Bearden, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, was given a 5 year suspended imposition probation sentence. Hines has two prior felony convictions.

Jesse Solomon, charged with residential burglary and criminal mischief has the criminal mischief charge nol prossed. Solomon was given a 5 year  imposition of sentence ruling on the residential burglary charge.

Cody Lee Deaton, charged with breaking and entering, theft of property, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance had all the charges nol prossed with the exception of the breaking and entering charge. Since Deaton has four or more felonies on his record, he was tried as a habitual criminal and was sentenced to 10 years in the department of corrections to run concurrent to current jail time.
