07/13/17  Granny's House Topic At Fordyce City Council

The Fordyce City Council met Tuesday evening at the city council chambers at city hall. Mayor John MacNichol asked the city council members to attend a special called meeting to discuss a new telephone service for all city offices with a representative from Windstream Communications. The tentative date for that meeting is August 1.

It was reported at the meeting that a committee composed of city council members and members of the Dallas county Quorum Court met with parties involved with the Granny's House project. The result of the meeting is that the city and county will probably share in the cost of clean up of asbestos at the site. An estimate of $25,000.00 has been put forward at other meetings to clean up the asbestos. If that's the route that's taken the project will be put up for bids and the lowest bid accepted.
