07/10/17  Sheridan And Prattsville Men Die In Car Crash Friday


A one car crash early Friday morning in Grant County killed two men and injured another. According to State Police report, a 2001 Mitsubishi, driven by 22 year old Robert Thomas Gilley of Sheridan was eastbound on Walker Road, near the intersection with Grant County Road 67 when Gilley failed to stop at at stop sign at Grant 67. The vehicle went across the road, then off the road, striking a tree.

Gilley and a passenger in his car, 18 year old Austin Wayne Joyner of Prattsville died of their injuries. Another passenger, 19 year old Matthew Garrett Bates of White Hall was taken to Baptist Hospital in Little Rock for treatment. Weather conditions were clear, roadway dry at the time of the crash at 2;40am Friday morning. State Trooper First Class Marshall T. Williams investigated.
