07/05/17 Ouachita County Historical Society Receives Grant Money |
According to a news release, Governor Asa Hutchinson has announced that the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, has awarded 2 million 824 thousand 799 dollars in grants for projects in 47 Arkansas counties, including Ouachita County. The Monies were released through its County Courthouse Restoration Grant, Historic Preservation Grant and Main Street Downtown Revitalization Grant programs. The Ouachita County Historical Society received $26,353.00 Historical Preservation Restoration Grant for restoration work at the 1847 McCollum-Chidester House in Camden. Other Historic Preservation Grant recipients included the city of Warren. $74,532.00 for restoration work at the Warren and Ouachita Valley Railroad station. Nineteen counties shared 1,562,946.00 in County Courthouse Restoration grants, including Cleveland County $163,500.00 and Drew County $82,500.00, El Dorado received $15,000.00 in grant money under the Main Street program. Pine Bluff received a $1,000.00 dollar grant for their involvement in the Main Street Arkansas Downtown Network. |
