07/05/17 Many In Ouachita County Without Electricity Over Weekend |
A strong but brief storm in Ouachita County on Saturday afternoon caused a power outage to many residences and businesses until Saturday night at around 7pm for some customers and Sunday for others. Norma Beaver of Ouachita Electric told the Camden News there were about 1,700 of their customers without power at one point. Beaver said the cause for the outages were wind and trees down, mainly in the Camden and Smackover areas. Ouachita County Road Supervisor Jerry Hendrix said his rain gauge recorded nearly three inches of rain. Hendrix said he and his crew had to remove a few trees throughout the county. No injuries have been reported. There was a large tree across the road on Ouachita 97 in Bearden. |
