06/29/17  Three More Names Added To Traffic Death Statistics


A 26 year old Texarkana, Arkansas man died in a car pedestrian accident in Texarkana this past Sunday and is just getting on the State Police fatal crash summary. According to a Texarkana Police report, on June 25, police responded to a medical emergency call. Investigation revealed that a pedestrian, identified as 26 year old Jermaine Holmes of Texarkana, Arkansas, had jumped on the trunk of a vehicle driven by Darriena Gaines. Gaines stopped abruptly, causing Holmes to fall over and land on the pavement where he sustained a significant head injury. He later died at a Texarkana Hospital. The accident is still under investigation by Texarkana Police.

Two people died in Miller County on Tuesday following the collision of three vehicles on highway 82. According to State Police report, a 2008 Hyundai, driven by 54 year old Tracy Bailey of Magnolia was westbound on highway 82. A 2009 Honda and a 2013 Chevrolet, driven by 49 year old Joanna Bruce of Maud, Texas, were both eastbound. Bailey drove left of center, sideswiping the Honda and then striking the Bruce vehicle head-on. Bailey and Bruce both died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Honda was not identified in the report. Weather conditions were clear, the roadway dry at the time of the crash Tuesday afternoon at 2:27. Captain William Davidson of the State Police investigated. The deaths were Arkansas' 232nd and 233rd traffic fatalities of the year.
