06/27/17  Arkansas Educators Attending NEA Meeting

The National Education Association's 155th annual meeting and representative assembly is underway in Boston with Arkansas educators among the nearly 8,000 educators on hand to address the pressing issues facing students, schools and the teaching profession.

Brenda Robinson is the president of the Arkansas Education Association and in a recent interview, Robinson addressed some of the issues the educators would be dealing with, including the Every Student Succeeds Act Implementation, racial and social justice and new educators. Robinson said she thought every school district should conduct a testing audit. She said she thought the districts would be surprised with the amount of time spent on testing.

Robinson said educators must also work to dispel the myth that parents aren't welcome in school.

The NEA meeting goes on through July 5 in Boston.
