06/06/17  Longtime Fordyce Businessman Dead At 81

 

81 year old DeWitt “Wendell” Roark of Fordyce died Sunday at Monticello. He was manager of First Federal Savings and Loan in Fordyce for 31 years.

He loved going to the Sr. Citizen's center for lunch and bingo and then playing dominoes at the Fordyce Civic Center. He was known as the “Tomato Man” for 21 years.

The family will receive friends this Sunday from 6-8pm at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. There will be a celebration of life at 10am Monday at Beech Grove Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member and deacon. Burial will follow at Stoney Point Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Alan Roark Memorial Scholarship Fund at Beech Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce in charge of arrangements.
