06/02/17  Fordyce Police Arrest Two

 

A Fordyce man and an Arkadelphia man were arrested by Fordyce police following a traffic stop on May 27,  in the area of Abernathy and Russell Street. According to a report filed by officer Michael Rhodes, he observed a white truck turn onto Abernathy from Cotton Street at a fast rate of speed going from the right side of the road to the left and oncoming traffic.

Rhodes initiated a traffic stop. The driver, despite being told to stay in the vehicle, ignored the order and entered a residence at 115 Cadiz. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Jemario Yarbrough of Arkadelphia,  said the driver was his cousin but stated he didn't know his name and that the two had been to a party and had been drinking. After back up arrived, Rhodes went inside the house and found the driver, Darren Childs of Fordyce under a bed in a front bedroom of the house. Childs was taken into custody and was yelling and cursing all the way to the patrol car and refused to get into the vehicle until threatened with tasing.

Childs was charged with reckless driving, fleeing, driving on a suspended  license, failure to submit to arrest, disorderly conduct, DWI, refusal to submit to a test and obstruction of government operations. Bond was set at $3,260.00. He will remain in jail until his bond is paid or until his court date June 8,  in Fordyce District Court.

Yarbrough was charged with public intoxication and obstruction of government operations. He was released on citations with a court date of July 13,  in Fordyce District Court.
