05/25/17  Dallas County Extension Service Looking For 40 Volunteer Tick Catchers

 

Keith Gresham at the Dallas County Extension Service is looking for 40 people in Dallas County and surrounding area willing to catch ticks.

Gresham has 40 tick catching kits with instructions available for anyone who'd like to help with this project.

According to Kelly Loftin, extension entomologist with the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, tick-born disease came to light this year after the state Health Department confirmed two cases of Lyme disease in Arkansas. Governor Asa Hutchinson has signed a proclamation declaring May Lyme and tick-borne disease awareness month.

If you'd like to participate in the tick collection program..contact the Dallas County Extension service at 870-352-3505. The collection period runs from May through the end of deer season this year.
