Two trials were set and three individuals entered pleas in Dallas County Circuit Court yesterday. A trial was set for June for James Hall of Fordyce. Hall was charged with rape and failed to register as the law requires as a sex offender. He is also a habitual offender and will be tried accordingly by the prosecuting attorney, which means the judge can mete out more jail time. Hall was taken into custody at the hearing yesterday. No bond was set. Willie Lee Harris of Fordyce had his trial date set for June 12. Harris underwent a competency examination and was found competent to stand trial on a charge of domestic battery. Lisa Toney of Fordyce entered a plea of guilty yesterday to a 2nd degree forgery charge. She was given 5 years probation and ordered to pay over $1,300.00 in restitution. Clayton Whisenhunt and Misty Clark, both of Fordyce entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge. The orgininal charge was residential burglary, the charge was reduced to criminal mischief. The two were sentenced to serve 10 days in jail and fined $500.00 each. At the time of their arrest, Whisenhunt and Clark had taken up unauthorized residence in a mobile home on College street. |
