05/18/17  Woodlawn School Gives Certified Staff $1,000.00 Raise

The Woodlawn school board voted Monday night to give the certified staff a $1,000.00 a year pay raise beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. The Raise exceeds what would be the state-mandated pay increase over the next two years.

Superintendent Dudley Hume said he would be meeting with the Arkansas Department of Education this week to explain the reason behind two audit findings that led to Woodlawn School District being put on probation one year.

The board's decision to add  $1,000.00 to the pay checks of certified teachers at Woodlawn comes as the state begins two rounds of mandated pay raises for teachers during the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years. The state minimum for a teacher's salary is currently $31,000.00. Adding the mandated increases the new state minimum will be $31,800.00.
