05/16/17  Two More Traffic Fatalities Bring Total To 176

 

Two more traffic fatalities have been recorded in Arkansas. One in Scott County and one in Lonoke County. According to State Police, on Saturday on Highway 71-north in Scott County, a two car crash took the life of 41 year old Stacy A. Byers of Waldron. The report states that a 2004 Toyota Tundra, driven by 64 year old Larry D. Epperson of Rogers was northbound on highway 71, Byers, driving a 1995 Chevy Corsica, was headed south. Byers was negotiating a curve and traveled left of center into the path of the Epperson vehicle. Byers was pronounced dead at the scene by Scott County Coroner Same Callahan. Epperson was transported to a Ft. Smith hospital for treatment. Weather conditions were clear, roadway dry at the time of the crash at 1:25pm on Saturday afternoon. Senior Corporal Charlie M. Edmondson of the State Police investigated. It was Arkansas' 175th traffic fatality of the year.

Yesterday morning in Lonoke county, a 30 year old Beebe, Arkansas woman died in a one vehicle crash on highway 319 in Lonoke County. According to a preliminary State Police report..Savannah Carol Knight of Beebe was killed. She was a passenger in a 2008 Dodge ram northbound on 319, driven by 33 year old Christopher Kennamer of Cabot. Kennamer lost control and the vehicle overturned, ejecting the driver and passenger. Knight died of her injuries, Kennamer was being treated at UAMS for his injuries. Weather conditions were clear, the roadway dry at the time of the crash at 10:21 yesterday morning. State Trooper Drew Pannell investigated. It was Arkansas' 176th traffic fatality of the year.
