05/15/17  El Dorado Man Dies In One Vehicle Accident

 

A 27 year old El Dorado man died in a one vehicle crash in El Dorado Friday night. According to a State Police report, a 2003 Chevy SUV, driven by Corey Lee Halcomb of El Dorado, was headed east on 19th Street in the El Dorado city limits, when the vehicle crossed the centerline and went off the road striking a mailbox and gas meter power pole and a tree. Halcomb was pronounced dead at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.

It was raining at the time of the crash and the roadway was wet. The crash was investigated by El Dorado Police. Halcomb's death was Arkansas' 174 traffic fatality of the year.

Another fatality that occurred on May 2,  was just recorded by State Police. That fatality occurred in Sebastian County in Ft. Smith. According a preliminary State Police report, 25 year old Codie Bienek of Livingston, Texas was a passenger on a 1999 Suzuki motorcycle driven by 34 year old Kenneth  Stephenson of Denham Springs, Louisiana.

The report states that the motorcycle was speeding eastbound on Rogers Avenue in Ft. Smith when it struck a curb and crashed.  Both men were thrown from the motorcycle. Bienek died of his injuries. Stephenson was treated at a nearby hospital.  The weather conditions were clear, roadway dry at the time of the crash on May 2. Ft. Smith police investigated. That was Arkansas' 173 fatality of the year.
