The prosecutor's office for the 13th Judicial district has filed criminal charges in Dallas County Circuit Court. On May 3, deputy prosecutor Tom Wynne filed charges against 64 year old James Ronald O'Neal of Sparkman for possession of drug paraphernalia and littering.  On March 24, Dallas County deputy Ryan Coleman reported coming in contact with O'Neal and Cheryl Allen parked on a bridge on county road 206. When  Coleman investigated, he observed an open container in the vehicle and asked O'Neal to step out of the vehicle. When he did,  O'Neal tossed a bottle into the woods. He also found O'Neal to be in possession of two syringes and a bag containing meth residue. A search of the vehicle uncovered a hand gun and several bags of meth and marijuana and some prescription pills. Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Dallas County detention center.

42 year old Tyrone Harris of Fordyce has been charged in circuit court with aggravated robbery. The charges were the result of an incident that occurred on March 23 at Hempco Auto Detail on west 4th. Police were called to the shop on a report of a robbery in progress. When police arrived they were told by witnessed that Harris came to the shop demanding money from store owner Angelo Hempstead. When Hempstead refused Harris' demands, Harris assaulted Hempstead and said he was going to take the money from behind the counter. Hempstead stopped Harris by striking him with a scale, knocking Harris to the ground..where Hempstead held him until police arrived. Harris was taken to the hospital for treatment of a head wound and arrested upon his release.
