05/08/17  Two Separate Accidents Bring State Highway Death Toll To 163

 

A Malvern man died in a one vehicle accident Saturday morning in Hot Spring County. According to State Police, 75 year Joseph G. Hicks of Malvern died when his 2016 Jeep, eastbound on highway 70 at the cross roads in Bonnerdale, left the road and collided with a tree. Hicks died at the scene. Weather conditions were clear, roadway dry at the time of the crash at 8:05 Saturday morning. State Trooper First Class Brandon M. Margis investigated.

Yesterday in Pulaski County a North Little Rock man died in a motorcycle accident on the I-630 and Cumberland street overpass.  State Police reported a 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by 37 year old Derek Lamont McClina of North Little Rock was headed east on I-630 when it left the road and struck a concrete support column at the Cumberland Street overpass. McClina was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner. Weather conditions were clear, the roadway dry at the time of the crash at 12:30 yesterday morning. Corporal Chet White of the State Police investigated. The two fatalities were Arkansas' 162 and 163 of the year.
