05/04/17  National Day Of Prayer Today

Observances are taking place throughout the region today during the 66 annual National Day of Prayer. Yesterday on KQ-102.3's "South Arkansas Today" program,  our guests were Brother Rusty Ross of First Baptist Church in Fordyce and Brother Matthew Hodges of 1st Assembly of God Church in Fordyce. Brother Ross explained how the National Day of Prayer got started.

Ross said there was a big revival in the country back in the 50's.

Brother Hodges told us about the day of prayer observance here in Fordyce scheduled for noon today at the Dallas County courthouse Gazebo.

In Ouachita County today at the Courthouse lawn, a National Day of Prayer service will be held at noon. Judge Robbie McAdoo says there will be special music with special prayers for our leaders and for unity. City, county and local leaders are encouraged to attend. There will be free hot dogs and hamburgers.

In Cleveland county,  residents are encouraged to gather on the steps of the Cleveland County Courthouse at noon. Pastor Ike Mohr of Rison United Methodist Church will be leading the proceedings in thoughts and prayers for the community, the county, state and nation.
