04/27/17  Reckless Driving Gets Camden Man A Date In Court

A 21 year old Camden man has been charged with reckless driving following an incident that occurred in Camden on April 23.  According to a Camden Police report, offier Benjamin Opelt was on routine patrol on Cash road near the Washington Avenue intersection, when he observed a Ford truck traveling west on Washington.

The vehicle did not stop at the stop sign and fishtailed in the middle of the intersection and headed north on Cash at speeds up to 80 miles an hour. Opelt observed the truck turn onto Maul road, eventually coming to a stop on Sharp Street.

When Opelt came into contact with the driver, Ty Oakley, he could smell alcohol and he could see open beer cans inside the truck. Oakley was taken into custody for DWI and reckless driving and transported to the police station. After undergoing tests, Oakley's blood alcohol level was  .17.

He was issued a temporary permit and his drivers license was surrendered. He will appear in Camden District Court June 5.
