04/19/17  Cotton Belt Festival Takes A Day Off

 

There's no activities planned for tonight at the Fordyce on the Cotton Belt Festival, church night. Activities resume tomorrow night with Gospel singing on the courthouse stage at 7pm, weather permitting. In case of rain the event will be moved to the Fordyce Civic Center.

Fordyce on the Cotton Belt T-shirts are on sale in downtown Fordyce in the old Benton Furniture store location. This year's shirt depicts the 819 steam locomotive on the back, prices start at $17.00. That's the main fund raiser for the festival. 

A full slate of activities are scheduled on Friday. Tomorrow morning Mike Trammel, festival director, along with Joe Bill Meador and Richard Ledbetter will be back on KQ-102.3's "South Arkansas Today" to give us an update on all the activities.













46 year old Randall O. Rogers of Carthage on April 5th was charged with


residential burglary and theft of property. Rogers in charged in the break in


of Robert Bryant's home on 167 north and taking several items. Dallas county


deputies went to Rogers' address and Rogers told them what he had taken and


where they could find it. Rogers was arrested and taken to the Dallas county


detention center.

56 year old Cheryl L. Allen of Sparkman and 64 year old James Ronald Oneal


of Sparkman have been charged with possession of meth with purpose to


deliver..possession of marijuana..simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms..


possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of other drugs.


On March 27th Dallas County deputy Ryan Coleman was traveling county road


206 and observed a vehicle setting in the east lane of a bridge. Coleman pulled


up alongside and noticed the passenger, identified as James Oneal had an open


container of alcohol. Coleman asked him to step out of the vehicle and when


he did he threw a bottle of Smirnoff into the woods..Coleman asked Oneal if


he had anything in his pockets that would stick him..Oneal said yes and pulled


out two syringes and a clear bag that once contained meth. The driver of the


vehicle..Cheryl Allen was asked if there was anything else in the vehicle..she


said no..but Coleman found a hand gun..several bags of meth..several bags of


marijuana and some prescription pills. Oneal and Allen were both arrested and


taken to the Dallas County Sheriff's office.
