04/03/17  Three More Succumb To Traffic Accidents Over Weekend

 

Saturday two deaths occurred in Ouachita county and a third in Lincoln County.  State Police report 41 year old Shawn T. Walker of Camden and 45 year Todd L. Schalchlin  of Hampton were killed when a 2015 Chevy Camaro driven by Walker, headed east on state highway 278 near the Calhoun County line, left the road, struck a driveway culvert and overturned. Both men died at the scene. Weather conditions were clear, the roadway dry at the time of the crash Saturday morning at 12:47. State Trooper Wade Schanzlin investigated. Funeral services for both men are pending at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden.

In Lincoln County Saturday afternoon, 22 year old Chelsey Cranton of Star City died when she was ejected from the car she was driving on state highway 114, west of Gould. According to a State Police report, the 2004 Chevy Cavalier that Cranton was driving left the road, struck a ditch and overturned, ejecting Cranton. Three passengers in the car were injured, 20 year old Aspen Leigh Conrad of Star City and 23 year old Brian Carter of Star City. An unidentified minor, also was injured. All the injured were taken to Delta Memorial Hospital at Dumas. State Trooper Taylor W. Woods investigated. The deaths raise this years total to 114.
