03/29/17  One In Miller County One In Independence County, Traffic Deaths Continue To Mount

 

Two more fatalities have occurred on Arkansas roadways in the past couple days. According to State Police, on Monday, in Miller County, a 29 year old Texarkana, Arkansas man died in a crash on I-30 east-bound at mile marker five. A report on the crash indicated that at about 8:50 Monday night, traffic on the eastbound side of I-30 near mile marker 5 was stopped due to a crash at mile marker 9. A 2004 Ford Ranger pick up, driven by Dustin Edmonson of Texarkana, eastbound in the left lane failed to stop in time and collided with the rear of a 2011 Freightliner. Edmonson was transported to a hospital in Texarkana where he died of his injuries. The driver of the truck was not identified. The weather was clear, the roadway dry at the time of the crash. The Texarkana Police Department investigated.

A single vehicle crash in Independence County yesterday killed a 77 year old Osyka, Mississippi woman. The State Police Report indicated a 2007 Dodge Caravan, driven by Cecelia Smith Welch was northbound on state highway 25 when her vehicle left the road, and struck a ditch embankment near Batesville. She died at the scene. The weather was clear, roadway dry at the time of the crash at 8:04 yesterday morning. Corporal Michael Woodward of the State Police investigated. Those were the 106 and 107 traffic fatalities of the year.
