03/24/17  Barn Quilt And Johnny Cash Center Topics At Kick-Start Cleveland County

According to Britt Talent of Rison, Kick-Start Cleveland County will be hosting a meeting this Monday evening at 6pm at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds meeting room. Talent says the meeting is for anyone interested in starting a “barn quilt trail” in Cleveland County as well as anyone interested in helping establish a Johnny Cash visitor's center in Kingsland.

Jennifer King will be making a presentation on barn quilts and what kind of impact they could have on tourism to Cleveland county and other counties in south Arkansas.

There will be discussion on the recommendations of Dr. Ruth Hawkins of Arkansas State University's Heritage Sites concerning the Johnny Cash visitors center in Kingsland. The City of Kingsland has already acquired the old Kingsland Post Office as the site of the visitors center. The next phase will be a clean-up of the building and acquiring local memorabilia to go inside. Talent said you don't have to be a part of Kick-Start Cleveland County to attend this meeting.
