03/16/17 Shooting Death In New Edinburg |
A 57 year old New Edinburg man has been charged with first degree murder. The charges were filed on Monday by Cleveland County Criminal investigators against Travis Avery of New Edinburg. According to Cleveland County Criminal Investigator Gary Young, on Tuesday, March 7, the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department received a report of a shooting incident at 100 Jodi Smith Road at New Edinburg. Officers from the Cleveland County Sheriff's office responded to the location and while in route to the scene they were advised the shooting victim, 59 year old Dwight Crain of New Edinburg was being treated at the Dallas county Medical Center. Crain was later transferred by helicopter to a Little Rock hospital. Preliminary information revealed that Crain and another individual went to a residence at 100 Jodi Smith Lane in New Edinburg and shortly after arriving Crain was shot multiple times. On March 12, Cleveland County investigators were notified by the Pulaski County Coroner's office that Crain had died at a Little Rock Hospital. The investigation is still active. |
