03/15/17  Bearden Woman Dies In Car-Truck Crash

 

A 20 year old Bearden girl was killed in a car-truck crash in Hot Spring County on Monday morning. According to State Police, Taylor M. Watkins of Bearden died at the scene of the crash when her northbound 2005 Ford Focus, heading north on highway 9 near Lono, crossed the centerline on a curve and struck the front of a 2007 southbound Peterbilt truck driven by 55 year old Steven T. McDougald of El Dorado.

McDougald was taken to a Hot Springs hospital for treatment. It was raining at the time of the crash Monday morning at 7:35. State Trooper Joshual D. Whitney investigated. It was the 88th traffic fatality of the year.

Taylor was a ministry assistant at Compact Family Services-Hillcrest Children's Home in Hot Springs and a student at Henderson State University. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Lonesome Dove Boys Ranch at Thornton.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-8pm at First Assembly of God Church in Camden. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 at First Assembly of God with Reverend Greg Sanders, Reverend Trey Hopkins and Reverend Conner Davis officiating. burrial at Bethel Cemetery near Bearden.
