03/13/17  Two Die In Separate Crashes Saturday

 

A 37 year old Bee Branch man died of injuries suffered in a one car crash in Van Buren County on Saturday. According to a State Police report, a 2006 Lincoln, driven by Scotty Ray Cossey of Bee Branch was headed south on highway 65, went out of control, traveled into the northbound lane, overcorrected and struck a  guardrail, traveling down a steep ditch, striking an embankment.

Cossey was taken to UAMS for treatment and died of his injuries. It was raining at the time of the crash at 5pm Saturday afternoon. State Trooper Jake D. Pack investigated. It was Arkansas 87th fatality of the year on the state's roadways.

Saturday morning A 23 year old Malvern woman died in a one car crash in Hot Spring County. According to State Police, a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Mykayla Crain of Malvern was headed north on highway 67 south of Malvern when the vehicle she was driving, left the road, struck a guard rail, went airborne and struck a tree. Hot  Spring County Coroner Aaron Davis pronounced Crain dead at the scene.

It was cloudy and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash Saturday morning at 8:30. State Trooper First Class Terry Sawyer investigated.
