03/10/17  Camden Police Report

A 46 year old Camden man has been charged with second offense DWI,  refusal to submit to blood alcohol test, refusal to submit to arrest, running a stop sign and failure to wear a seat belt.

The charges were filed by Camden police officer Jimmy Plyler, who was dispatched to the Day N Nite convenience store for a suspected drunk driver. A concerned citizen called in stating a Red Ford Ranger was all over the road and had pulled into the convenience store.

The driver, identified as Joe Anthony Ross pulled out of convenience store onto Cash Road, and officer Plyler was finally able to get Ross stopped on East Washington street. Ross, who had a strong smell of intoxicants coming from his person denied drinking anything but coffee. He refused to take a sobriety check, struggled with Plyler when he tried to cuff him.

Ross was placed under arrest and detained for 12 hours at the Ouachita County Detention center. His court date is May 17.
