02/17/17  Bearden Water Tower Project Begins March 1

The water tower renovation project in Bearden will get underway March 1. That was the news Mayor Iva Lou Stoker reported to the Bearden City Council on Monday night. She said the city has purchased a $5,500.00 bond to begin the work.

In other council news, the mayor reported she'll be meeting with Franks Engineering Company this week to review plans on Bearden's $45,000.00 Fun Park Grant. The city has to hire a certified designer to complete the plans before the work can be done. Franks Engineering will be doing that as well as overseeing the building and placement of park equipment.

Letters from the city of Bearden will be going out April 1 to water customers who have two or more resident lines tied into one water meter. The violators will be given 60 days to complete preparation for connecting to their own meter. If violators don't comply, their water will be shut off.

The city of Bearden has been awarded a street grant for $225,000.00 but the work will not begin until 2018 after the approved streets have been cleared of waste water repairs. And Mayor Stoker says the city will be defending the Trail of Life Grant on February 24. She's hopeful of getting that grant so all the work can be done together.
