02/13/17  Three Die In Three Accidents Over Weekend

 

Three Arkansans lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes over the weekend. According to a State Police report, 55 year old Kenneth W. Millsaps of Enola, Arkansas died on Friday when his 2012 Freightliner, headed west on state highway 22, east of the Sebastian County line road, ran off the north side of the road, attempted to turn back to the traffic lanes, returning to lane one, and then overturned onto its side, traveling across the traffic lanes into the ditch on the south side of the road. Millsaps died at the scene. The weather conditions were clear..roadway dry at the time of the crash at 6:12 Friday morning. Senior Corporal Michael Springer of the State Police investigated.

On Friday afternoon, State Police investigated another one vehicle fatal crash that occurred in Pulaski County. 66 year old Diana B. Cain of Bigelow died as the result of her injuries when her 2008 Mercedes-Benz., westbound on state highway 10, veered off the roadway over the north shoulder and down an embankment into a ditch. Cain was taken to Baptist Medical Center where she was declared dead. The weather conditions were clear, roadway dry at the time of the crash at  2:25 Friday afternoon. State Trooper First Class Richard Scott of the State Police investigated.

Arkansas recorded highway fatality number 42 on Saturday. The fatal crash occurred in Crittenden County in the northbound land of I-55 at mile marker 19. The accident occurred when a 2003 Ford F250 and a 2005 Toyota 4Runner, driven by 23 year old Mario Ruiz of Byhalia, Mississippi were both northbound on I-55 in the right lane. Ruiz struck the rear of the trailer being towed by the Ford truck. After the collision, both vehicles ended up in the east road ditch. Ruiz died at the scene. The driver of the truck was not identified. Weather conditions were clear, the roadway dry at the time of the collision at 1:55 Saturday afternoon.
