Dr. Y.Y. King of Pine Bluff died at his home on Wednesday at the age of 81. Dr. King started out obstetrics and gynecology and then switched to ophthalmology where he stayed for the remainder of his medical career.

For over 30 years he thrived in the practice of ophthalmology, treating patients all over the mid-south. He was a pioneer in refractive surgery, performing the first radial Keratotomy procedure in Arkansas and opening one of the nation's first outpatient surgery centers strictly to ophthalmology. He performed hundreds of operations in India, Nepal and the former Soviet Union.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm today at Ralph Robinson and Son Chapel with Reverend Todd Howard officiating. Visitation is today from 12:30-1:45 at Robinson's Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral directors of Pine Bluff in charge of  arrangements.
