01/23/17  Arkansas Traffic Fatality 21 Occurred Saturday

 

So far, 21 people have lost their lives on Arkansas roadways in this new year. The latest fatality occurred Saturday afternoon on I-40-west at mile marker 163 in Pulaski County. According to state police a 2014 Volvo was parked on the emergency shoulder of I-40 in the west bound lane near mile marker 163.  The accident occurred when a 2004 Jeep, driven by 44 year old Albert Anderson of Sherwood, traveling westbound in the first lane of I-40, struck the Volvo in the rear.

Anderson was killed in the crash and a passenger in his car, 36 year old Trayson James of Sherwood was taken to UAMS for treatment. The driver of the Volvo was not identified in the report.

Weather conditions were cloudy, the roadway dry at the time of the crash at 3:25 Saturday afternoon. Corporal Sequoyah Browning of the State Police investigated the crash.
