01/20/17  A Death A Day On Arkansas Highways

 

There have been 20 traffic fatalities in Arkansas so far this year. The twentieth traffic death was recorded last night in Independence County.  According to State Police, a 16 year old male, from Cave City, Arkansas was driving a 1997 Jeep south on highway 167, south of Weaver Chapel Road when it the vehicle left the road on the west side, hit some loose gravel, the driver over corrected and began to skid sideways, then overturning several times, coming to rest on its wheels.

The teenager was taken to White River Medical Center but died from his injuries. The weather was clear, roadway damp at the time of the crash at 9:15 on Wednesday night. Corporal John Qualls of the State Police investigated.
