12/30/16   82 Year Old Marshall Man Becomes Fatality 539

An 82 year old Marshall, Arkansas man has become Arkansas' 539 traffic fatality of 2016. According to State Police reports, Robert Stewart of Marshall was killed in a two car crash in Boone County.

The report indicates that Stewart, driving a 2009 Chevy, was stopped on U.S. 62 attempting a left turn onto U.S. 65.

A 1999 Chevy, driven by 61 year old Terry Wheeler of Western Grove, Arkansas, was northbound on U.S. 65 in the inside traffic lane. Stewart failed to yield and pulled into the path of Wheeler's vehicle, causing a collision. A passenger in Stewart's vehicle, 52 year old Angela Perez of Marshall was injured. The injured were taken to a Harrison Hospital.

Weather conditions were cloudy..the road conditions dry at the time of the crash at 2:38pm Wednesday afternoon. State Trooper Jason Hutcheson investigated the crash.
