12/27/16   Two Die In Traffic Accidents Christmas Day

Arkansas recorded its 533^rd and 534^th traffic fatality on Christmas Day in Yell County. According to a State Police report, 33 year old Gina L. Smith of Little Rock, and a passenger in the vehicle, 39 year old Walter L. Sharp of North Little Rock both died in the crash.

The report stated that Smith, driving a 2004 Toyota south on South Liberty Road in Yell County, crested a hill, lost control of the vehicle and left the road, striking a culvert gate and then trees before overturning. Smith and Sharp were both dead at the scene. Weather conditions were cloudy, the roadway wet at the time of the crash at 2:35pm Christmas Day. Lt. Keven Mainhart of the Yell County Sheriff's office investigated the crash.
