12/20/16   Arkansas' Death Toll Continues To Climb During Holidays

 

Arkansas is ahead of last year's highway fatality count for the year. Last year Arkansas recorded a total of 512 highway fatalities, this year the count is 518 with the death on Sunday of a Jonesboro man.

According to a preliminary State Police report, 43 year old Stephen Carnathan of Jonesboro died when the 2012 Chrysler van he was driving east on a city street in Jonesboro struck the dual wheels of a 2008 west bound Kenworth truck. The report indicated that Carnathan's vehicle crossed the center line.

The driver of the truck was not identified in the report made by Jonesboro patrolman Josh Wiest of the Jonesboro Police Department. Weather conditions were clear..the roadway dry at the time of the crash at 6:44pm Sunday.
