12/05/16   Sparkman Man Arrested And Charged With Burglary And Theft

The Dallas County Sheriff's Department office of criminal investigation has filed charges of breaking and entering and theft of property against Coby L. Deaton.

October 22, Arlie Burchfield reported to the Sheriff's office that someone had broken into his shop and took property totaling $525.00 in value. Through an informant, criminal investigators were told that Coby Deaton had taken the merchandise.

A Sparkman resident told deputies that she allowed Deaton to move in with her at her residence in Sparkman because he didn't have a place to live. Deaton gave her the merchandise he had taken from Burchfield and the woman gave it back to Burchield.

November 3, an arrest warrant was issued and November 4,  Deaton was taken into custody at the Sparkman residence. A search of Deaton and the residence where he had been staying uncovered a baggie of marijuana, two syringes, one of which contained a substance believed to be meth and a pipe used to smoke marijuana. Deaton informed officers the drug paraphernalia belonged to him and he also confessed to the break in.
