11/28/16   Two Fatal Crashes Sunday

 

Arkansas State Police Troopers investigated a pair of fatal car crashes early Sunday morning. 62 year old Wash J. Whitelaw of Fayetteville became Arkansas' 497th traffic fatality early yesterday morning when his 2002 Honda, southbound on I-49 failed to negotiate a right hand curve, traveled off the east side of the road where it entered a wooded area, striking several trees, rolling several times and finally coming to rest on its top.

Weather conditions were cloudy the roadway dry at the time of the crash at 3am yesterday morning  on I-49. The crash was investigated by Corporal Jason Davis of the State Police.

Shortly before 7am yesterday morning in Saline County, 31 year old Derek L. Shows of Conway lost his life in a one vehicle accident in the eastbound lane of I-30 at mile marker 116. According to a preliminary State Police report.  Shows' 2010 Ford was eastbound on I-30 when it traveled off the south side of the road, striking a bridge pillar.

Shows was pronounced dead at the scene by Saline County Coroner Cleghorn. Weather conditions were foggy..the roadway dry at the time of the crash at 6:59am. Trooper First Class Phillip Felton of the State Police investigated.
