11/04/16   Veterans Celebration Set For Sunday In Fordyce

This Sunday afternoon at 2:30 the annual Veterans Celebration will be held at First Baptist Church in Fordyce. The event honors all who have worn or are still wearing the uniform of the United States.

The event is sponsored by the Fordyce Chamber of Commerce with assistance from Fordyce Sesame Club, Chicot Trace Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonial Dames and the Dallas County Museum.

Immediately following the celebration, there will be a reception at the Dallas County Museum and an opportunity to view the expanded Veterans exhibit featuring the vets of Dallas County. One of the features will be a book signing by Col Jim Phillips, who has written a book entitled “Memories of a Colonel”. Phillips was featured on KQ-102.3's "South Arkansas Today" on yesterday's broadcast and explained how the book came about.

Phillips related a true story from the book that happened while he served in Korea.

All veterans and their families are invited to attend both events and the public is urged to come support those who have served their country in uniform. For more information, call the Fordyce Chamber of Commerce at 352-3520.
