10/17/16   Bearden Gazebo - Politics Is Spoken Here

 

A political rally was held in downtown Bearden on Saturday at Gazebo Park, sponsored by the Bearden Fire Department. It gave area candidates an opportunity to present their platforms to area residents.  State Senator Bobby Pierce of Sheridan, representing District 27, was on hand as well as his challenger, Trent Garner of Harmony Grove. Garner spoke first. He served 2 tours of duty in Afganistan and is from Harmony Grove.

Garner talked about a new direction for the state.

The incumbent for State Senate seat, District 27 is Bobby Pierce of Sheridan. He Has held the office for a little over 3 years.

Pierce said the state is headed in the right direction.

Ouachita County Judge Robbie McAdoo was the master of ceremonies for the rally and auctioneer for the cakes that were sold. We asked Judge McAdoo how responsive the legislative delegation representing Ouachita County has been.

The judge bought some no bake cookies for $25.00 and a German Chocolate cake for $20.00. Mayor Iva Lou Stoker's coconut cake brought $45.00 dollars. Bobby Pierce paid $20.00 for some strawberrry cupcakes. Trent Garner paid $40.00 for a German Chocolate. Bobby Pierce bought a Mississippi Mud cake too and gave it to Edie Hamann.  All the money from the cake auction and sale of other food went to he Bearden Volunteer Fire Department.
