10/13/16   Granny's House Committee Moved Forward In A Meeting Wednesday

The committee named by Dallas County Judge Jimmy Jones and Fordyce Mayor John MacNichol to work on a solution to the Granny's House clean up dilemma met again yesterday afternoon at Fordyce City Hall.

City Attorney Tom Wynne had been instructed to mail a letter to former Dallas County Sheriff Donny Ford and Barbara Crowder to get them to attend the meeting hoping they'd be able to shed more light on exactly what happened to the building. The committee discussed possible options and finally decided on what action would be taken. Committee chairman, John Daniel explained.

The letter will be sent to Barbara Crowder from the city requesting she clean up the property. She'll be given 20 days to respond to the city's request and if not other legal action may be taken. Daniel told us some of the things the committee will have to consider.

City Attorney Tom Wynne was asked about the legality of giving someone a deed to property.

The committee will meet again in 20 days after the city gets its response to the letter to Barbara Crowder.
