10/11/16   Cleveland County School Board Runoff

The Zone 3 seat on the Cleveland County School Board will be decided today in a runoff election between Charlene Freeman and Amber Offut. The two tied in the September 20 school election.

Polls opened this morning at 7:30 and will remain open till 7:30 tonight at two locations, the Hall-Morgan Veterans building in Rison and the Kingsland School Parent Center.

Cleveland County Clerk Jimmy Cummings told the Cleveland County Herald that state law declares that if no candidate receives 50 percent of the vote in a school election, the two candidates will face off in a run off election. If there should be another tie, the candidates would draw straws or flip a coin to determine the winner.
