09/19/16   Home Destroyed By Fire Sunday In Bearden

A house fire in Bearden yesterday afternoon around 1:30 has left a family without a home. According to Bearden Fire inspector Tim Rogers, the fire department responded in about five minutes after the alarm came in and by the time firemen arrived at the scene fire was already shooting out the windows and door of the house.

The house, located at 530 2nd Street N-E, was occupied by Lamina Lewis who was not at home at the time of the fire. There was no one in the home when the fire broke out. And no one was injured fighting the blaze. Power was out in the neighborhood for a while after a power line was  burned in two due to the intensity of the heat from the fire. Rogers said firemen had to return a couple of time to the scene of the fire because of flare-ups, the last being around 7:20 last night.

This is the second structure fire in Bearden in the last week. A mobile home burned leaving another family with no place to live. Red Cross officials told Rogers this is the 21st house fire this year in Ouachita County and this isn't considered the “fire season”.
