09/07/16   Thornton Man Facing possible Habitual Criminal Charges

A 29 year old Thornton man has been charged in Dallas County Circuit Court with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of meth, and fleeing.

Deputy Prosecutor Tom Wynne filed the charges on August 29 against  Jeffrey Lance Null of Thornton. The charges against Null were filed by police following a traffic stop in Fordyce on March 4, near the Fordyce school grounds. Null failed to stop for police and led them on a short chase. He abruptly stopped on Green Acres Street and fled his vehicle. He was later taken into custody by police. He was also charged by police with driving on a suspended license and having a defective headlight.

The prosecutor will seek to have Null tried under the habitual criminal statute that allows the judge to hand out a stiffer sentence.
