09/02/16   Dallas County Fair Next Week

The Dallas County Fair and Livestock Show kicks off next Wednesday, September 7 and runs through Saturday, September 10.  Activities get underway Wednesday at the fair building adjacent to City Hall with the set up of booths, check-in and arrangement of exhibits from 1-5:30pm. Livestock begins arriving at 4pm and will be checked in until 8pm.

This year's fair parade will be held Saturday starting at 10am at Beech Grove Baptist Church. Parade line up begins at 9am. Following the parade at 11:30, a gospel hour at the fairgrounds and the Rotary Club egg toss competition at noon.

The 4^th annual Sticky Fingers Barbeque Cook-off will begin at 6am Saturday morning and last until early afternoon when the winners are announced. It features cash prizes over $3,000.00. $500.00 for first  place, $250.00 for second place and $100.00 for third for winners in the brisket, rib and chicken categories. Entry fee is $100.00 per team in each division. Entry forms are available by contacting Candace McCollum at 870-313-2450. You can also ask Candace about the steak cookoff on Friday night.

The 3^rd annual Dallas County Music Fest begins at 1pm running through 7pm sponsored by Fordyce Bank and Mortgage. The  “Cram them Dogs” contest, a hot dog eating contest will be held at 12:45 Saturday afternoon.

Saturday will also feature a livestock and horse show starting at 9am followed by the annual premium sale at the fair building. Exhibits will be open Saturday from 9am till 3pm. For more information call the Dallas County Extension service at 870-352-3505.
