08/19/16   Two Students Injured In School Bus Accident

Another school bus accident reported in Arkansas yesterday, this one occurred at Hazen. Two students were injured when a Hazen school bus was struck from the rear by a tractor-trailer. Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler says the bus was stopped on U.S. 63 at about 7:30 yesterday morning picking up students when it was hit from behind by the truck. Sadler says the two students complained of pain and had what appeared to be minor injuries. There were 23 students on the bus at the time.

Fordyce Police Chief Jimmy Vaughn, on KQ-102.3's "South Arkansas Today" yesterday said there has not been a school bus mishap in the city limits of Fordyce. Vaughn quoted the law regarding action motorists must observe regarding school buses.

Vaughn says school bus drivers are required to report incidents where motorists ignore the red lights on school buses and go around.
