08/11/16   Two Camden Men Charged With DWI

 

Sixty-five year old Arnie Edward Purifoy of Camden was charged and arrested on August 6 by Camden Police officer Andrew Tollefson. In his report, Tollefson observed a vehicle driven by Purifoy crossed the center line on two separate occasions. During the traffic stop Tollefson could smell the strong odor of marijuana and Purifoy admitted to drinking some beer. Purifory failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DWI and driving left of center.

57 year old James Ray Neal of Camden was charged with DWI, 2nd offense, speeding and driving left of center. The charges were filed by Camden police officer Jimmy Plyler on August 6.

Plyler stated in his report that while traveling north of Cash Road toward Fairview High School, he was approached by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle swerved onto the shoulder of the road and back across the center line as it approached him. Plyler finally stopped the vehicle.

The officer observed a passenger, Eric Phillips, apparently passed out in the front seat. Plyler said he could smell intoxicants on Neal who admitted to drinking a couple beers, he said Phillips drank a lot. An ambulance was called and Phillips taken to the ER. Following a field sobriety test, Neal was charged with DWI, second offense, driving left of center and speeding. He was taken to the detention center to sober up for 8 hours.
