08/03/16   Back To School Girls Summit Scheduled For The 14th In Fordyce

A back-to-school girls summit will be held August 14 at the Fordyce Civic Center at 4:30pm. The summit is open to girls in the Fordyce School District in grades 9 thru 12. The event will be moderated by Kassandra McGhee.

Guest speaker for the event will be Amanda Parham, Director of Women's Services at East Houston Regional Medical Center and Major in the U.S. Army Reserve, Army Nurse Corps. She'll be speaking on the importance of education.

Janie Daniel, VP of Fordyce Bank and Trust will speak on dress for success.

Marsheana Toney, Probation-Parole Officer II Supervisor for Dallas and Calhoun Counties will talk about bullying and social media.

Ginger Bailey, retired RN with the Department of Health will talk about  healthy weight and safe sex.

There is no admission charge. There will be door prizes and a reception dinner will be served. There will be free health screening. Notebooks and folders will be given away while they last. The event is sponsored by Yolanda Collins, Dallas County Health Department, DASH, Elegant Ladies, Regina Ford, Fordyce Bank and Trust.
