87 year old John Ed Pope of Pine Bluff passed away on Sunday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Pope never officially retired, operating the family business, Pope Furniture in Pine Bluff for 70 years. He and his wife Wannie Jean had been married 66 years at his death.

A memorial service will be held this morning at 10 at Lakeside United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff with Reverend Fred Arnold and Reverend Steve Wingo officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lakeside United Methodist Church or St. Jude's Hospital, attention tribute department, Memphis, Tenn.
